"Exhausted" is Find Leads' way of saying it has looked everywhere it knows to look and found nothing new. It's not an error — it's a signal to change your approach.
When a Search is "Exhausted"
An exhausted search means LeadRanks has exhausted its search avenues — the search engine queries have returned all the results they can, and no new URLs were discovered in the last batch. This can happen for several reasons:
- Narrow targeting — you're searching a niche industry in a small location (e.g., "Beekeeping Supplies in Alice Springs"). There simply aren't many results to discover.
- Repeated searches — you've run the same or similar searches multiple times, and the pool of undiscovered URLs has dried up.
- API rate limits — the underlying search engine has temporarily capped the number of results it returns.
Avoid the Duplicate Results Trap
Running the same search repeatedly won't produce new leads — it'll just re-discover the same URLs and waste your prospecting credits. Instead:
- Rotate your strategy — if Industry isn't finding new leads, try Specific Issues or Competitor Gap.
- Expand your location — move from a single city to "All Locations" or try a neighboring region.
- Broaden your industry — "Legal Services" instead of "Family Law Attorney" captures a wider net.
- Use different keywords — "cafe" vs "coffee shop" vs "breakfast restaurant" — each triggers different search results.
- Try the green tip banner — the coverage gap suggestion at the bottom of the page recommends untapped industry×location combinations based on your search history.
